Bruckner’s Sixth Symphony is one of the most original of all the composer’s symphonic works. Its contrasting moods, and overarching theme moving from darkness to light, can be haunting one moment and ecstatic the next, culminating in one of the most enigmatic symphonic conclusions of the 19th century. For this recording Sir Simon Rattle conducts the Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs Urtext edition of the score.

Reviews
“
‘By far the best Bruckner I’ve heard Simon Rattle do, and I hope there’s more to come.’
“
‘What a wonderful symphony this is...Rattle has as a defter touch than Davis, both here and in a tender and finely nuanced account of the great slow movement.’
“
‘That Simon Rattle is among the finest of contemporary conductors is surely beyond doubt, and, as any great conductor does, he brings unique insights to any score – nothing is routine, and one is aware that every phrase is keenly considered.’
