New Music Britain
The London Symphony Orchestra believes that new music is part of the lifeblood of the repertoire, and over the last decade we have worked with over 200 young and emerging composers, as well as championing landmark works by the most renowned composers of the 21st century, including Sir James MacMillan, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Thomas Adès and more.
When he began as LSO Music Director, Sir Simon Rattle decided that he would open each of his seasons with a celebration of new music in Britain, as well as commissioning the brightest talents to create new works to be performed across the seasons. Discover the music of Rattle's New Music Britain on LSO Live now, with the first recordings in the series covering works by Helen Grime and Mark-Anthony Turnage.
